Hiring: Farm Weeding Team Member

(Part-Time, Hourly)

Hours: Seasonal, approx. 16 hours/week (Monday and Tuesday each week)

Compensation: $15.69/hr

About Us: River Ridge Farm and Market is a four-season fruit, vegetable, and cut flower farm in Portland, CT with an associated market, open all-year-round, in Middletown, CT. At River Ridge, we adhere to no-till, organic practices on all 15 acres of our farm. We grow over 200 varietals of fruits, vegetables, and flowers every year, and our mission is to build the health of our soils, bolster the resiliency of our community, and share the joy of eating seasonally.

Job Description: We are seeking motivated and hardworking individuals to join our farm weeding team. As a team member, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the health and productivity of our crops by effectively managing weeds. Growth within organization possible.

Responsibilities:

• Manually remove weeds from crop fields.

• Use hand tools and other equipment to assist in weeding tasks.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area.

• Follow all safety guidelines and procedures.

• Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure efficient and effective weeding.

Qualifications:

• Must have a strong work ethic and be reliable

• Must be able to work quickly and in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

• Physical stamina to perform manual labor, including bending, kneeling, and lifting.

• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.

• Interest in organic farming and sustainable agriculture practices.

• No prior farming experience necessary, but it is a plus.
